This week’s SNGF prompt was to describe your best find in the month of May this year. [Add link]
I have two “best” finds to share:
1. In my direct line is a man named Peter Piper. I was immensely pleased to find this asking with a photograph on ancestry this month. No indication he was in the picked pepper business, however.
2. I started delving into my mother’s side more diligently and found my first civil war vet in my direct line, as far as I can tell. I found his entire packet of enlistment and discharge papers on Fold3 via my local library’s subscription. As far as I can tell he never saw combat in his mere 100 days of service, but he was a corporal and his company was assigned to guard POWs at Fort Delaware.
